Bodily changes in older people

Bodily changes related to age actively interact with the elderly condition. After 70 the probability of death and to develop diseases statistically increases (Sbattella, 2008).
In particular the likelihood of developing disorders of the circulatory system, such as hypertension or arteriosclerosis, widens. Elderly people may also suffer from blood-chemical changes that can cause kidney or respiratory impairment.
Some dysmetabolic states or digestive dysfunctions can have effects on brain function.
Elderly people also are at risk of developing diseases related to the use of drugs. The reduced liver and kidney function may in fact lead to the development of neuropsychiatric side effects (Sbattella, 2008).
The concept of aging and disease are intertwined. Some types of diseases, for example, may explain certain behaviors of the elderly people. In turn physiological states of the elderly can lead to an incorrect use of drugs. This incorrect use may lead to the development of diseases.
Scientists have however denied the equation between aging and disease. Indeed, the latter relates to processes which interfere with the normal development of the organism. At present there are many elderly people crossing the old with a good health status (Sbattella, 2008).
